Over the years The Lower Forty has hosted some of the world's most distinguished fly fishing instructors and personalities. Among the most noted include: Gary Borger, Eric Leiser, Steve Rajeff, Lou Tabory, Ron Alcott and the late great Mel Krieger, just to mention a few. Our 2010 program schedule will focus on the numerous regional opportunities available to the fly angler. Should your interest be in learning more about our New England freshwater fisheries make it a point to attend Kevin Tracewski's "Maine's Native Brook Trout: Where, When and Why" on Saturday, March 20th and the Harrison Anglers presentation entitled "Secrets of the Millers and the Deerfield" on March 27th. Both seminars had long waiting lists last year and this year we would expect more of the same. These seminars will compliment our popular Novice Flytying (Session I and II) and Fly Casting 101 clinic that are geared to educating novice anglers to these disciplines. ***PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED ON ALL CLASS EVENTS*** Email Jim Bender @ lower40@verizon.net or call 508.752.4004

This will be the 20th consecutive year of offering our novice fly tying course. Learn the basics of fly construction and design while tying four popular trout flies. From dry fly to nymph to streamer you will be exposed to many of the techniques necessary to further your understanding of building proportionately correct trout flies. All hooks and materials will be provided. Because of its nature, this year's program has been limited to only 6 students. |

We are extremely fortunate to welcome back Kevin Tracewski to our 2010 schedule of Lower Forty events. Among other achievements Kevin is author of the best-selling book "A Fisherman's Guide to Maine." During this 3-hour slideshow/lecture you will be exposed to many of the fly-fishing mysteries that Kevin has spent a lifetime accumulating. If you are planning a Maine fishing vacation during the upcoming season this seminar should be a requirement. Tracewski Fishing Adventures also provides anglers with services that range from guided trips and vacation planning to a fly fishing school and casting lessons. Kevin will also be accepting bookings for the 2010 season for you to consider. Be sure to pick up an autographed copy of his book on the completion of the day's events. |

The mission of Dan and Tom Harrison is to provide you with a float trip that you will not soon forget. They have guided float trips in Montana for 4 years and added to their credentials with 2 seasons in Chile. With all this experience their loyalty remains rooted in the foothills of western Massachusetts. The previous 4 years have found the brothers float guiding both the Deerfield and Millers rivers. If you have never fly fished before or if you are a veteran of many tight-lined battles, this slide show presentation is for you. After this seminar Harrison Anglers will make themselves available to book prime dates during the 2010 trout season. |

Without question the most misunderstood discipline in the entire realm of fly angling is casting. This program was designed to introduce the aspiring fly fisherman to the correct methods of properly presenting a fly. During the class FFF Master Fly Casting Instructor Stan Fudula, will expose you to the straight-line cast, the roll cast and the single and double haul. With this foundation and a bit of practice, you will be well on your way to a successful angling career. While we would prefer that students provide their own rods, outfits will be available upon request. We will accept 10 novice to intermediate level students for this program. |
