THE LOWER FORTY 2011 SCHEDULE

Over the years The Lower Forty has hosted some of the world's most distinguished fly fishing instructors and personalities. Among the most noted include: Gary Borger, Eric Leiser, Steve Rajeff, Lou Tabory, Ron Alcott and the late great Mel Krieger, just to mention a few. Our 2011 program schedule will offer introductory classes in both fly tying and fly casting as well as a treatise on fly-fishing the Deerfield River presented by Tom Harrison of Harrison Anglers. All seminars had long waiting lists last year and this year we would expect more of the same so we would encourage prospective attendees to register early.

SECRETS OF THE MILLERS AND THE DEERFIELD with Tom and Dan Harrison
Date: Saturday, March 26, 2011
Time: Noon-2 PM
Cost: No Charge

The mission of Dan and Tom Harrison is to provide you with a float trip that you will not soon forget. They have guided float trips in Montana for 4 years and added to their credentials with 2 seasons in Chile. With all this experience their loyalty remains rooted in the foothills of western Massachusetts, smack in the middle of their own back yard. The previous 5 years have found the brothers float guiding both the Deerfield and Millers rivers. If you have never fly fished before or if you are a veteran of many tight-lined battles, this slide show presentation is for you. After this seminar Harrison Anglers will make themselves available to book prime dates during the 2011 trout season.

FLYCASTING 101 with FFF Master Instructor Stan Fudula
Date: Saturday, Apr 23, 2011
Time: Noon-3 PM
Cost: $30.00
Note: 1 hr classroom / 2 hrs on site

Without question the most misunderstood discipline in the entire realm of fly angling is casting. This program was designed to introduce the aspiring fly fisherman to the correct methods of properly presenting a fly. During the class FFF Master Fly Casting Instructor Stan Fudula, will expose you to the straight-line cast, the roll cast and the single and double haul. With this foundation and a bit of practice, you will be well on your way to a successful angling career. While we would prefer that students provide their own rods, outfits will be available upon request. We will accept 10 novice to intermediate level students for this program.

It's hard to believe we are entering our 23rd year of offering Lower Forty flyfishing, flytying, and casting clinics. Over this period our instructors have taught over 2,000 students the finer points of the sport. As always, this year's roster of events is highlighted by the Lower Forty "Schoolie School", an introduction to inshore flyfishing. If you have any interest in attending one of the various seminars please inquire by phone or email.
