NOT MUCH HAPPENING

October 12, 2005 - Combine all the high surf, wind, rain and all-round miserable fly-fishing conditions with expensive gasoline and many anglers have been breaking out their fly tying vices in lieu of field operations.

When improvement prevails mid October offers some of the fastest action of the season. From now until the end of November concentrate your effort on estuary mouths and surf beaches. Both stripers and bluefish are now in the height of their fall migration and successful results are usually reliant on locating bait supplies.

MORE THAN RUMOR
In the event you haven't heard a British firm recently purchased two American fly-fishing icons, Abel Fly Reel and Thomas & Thomas Fly Rods. Sharp's of Aberdeen, a company with production ties to the Far East is the new owner. Will it be long before we see these high quality American products being manufactured in Asia? We get what we ask for!

Good fishing and safe wading,
