DEADSVILLE August 17, 2010 - Without a doubt we are in that funky period of time when fly fishers are at a distinct disadvantage. While our sweet water brethren are at least enjoying a modicum of success on the Farmington and Swift River watersheds, unless you're willing to toil during the early morning or late evening hours, chances are your not experiencing much success. Even the bonito fishing has been spotty to say the least. While enjoying a somewhat encouraging beginning a few weeks ago, schools have scattered throughout Vineyard Sound and locating fishable numbers can be a challenge. Those schools of larger striped bass have sought cooler habitat making them almost impossible fare for the fly rodder. Bluefish seem to be our only targets of opportunity, and locating marauding schools has been more of an exercise in futility. Hope to have better news in our next report. Good fishing and safe
