September 9, 2010 - From Popponesset Bay to Chatham Inlet in the south and Sandwich Town Beach to Wood End Light in Cape Cod Bay stripers, bluefish, albies and bonito have been crashing bait along every estuary and beachfront. Pattern selection has not been important as fly anglers continue to enjoy stellar results during virtually every tidal situation.

I WISH THAT WERE THE CASE! The post Earl era has not yielded the results that were anticipated as just about every fly angler we've interviewed from southern Rhode Island to Plum Island has experienced dismal campaigns.

With warm water and the constant blows we've had to contend with it has hardly been conducive to initiating the beginnings of an autumn migration. Being a bit more optimistic this interruption should be short-lived and we do anticipate that fishing will take a turn for the better in the not to distant future.

More on this in a future report.
